There’s good news for parents who are tired of having their toddlers getting their grubby little paws on their BlackBerrys and other smartphones while they’re not looking.
Leapfrog has announced a product called the Text & Learn or – as it’s sure to be known in the blogsphere – the “baby BlackBerry.”
Now kids can mimic their parents and send text messages and check their schedules at all hours of the day. The device, which is a bit bigger than your average BlackBerry, is geared toward preschoolers who are just learning to spell and includes games that focus on spelling and basic computer skills.

Hmm. I wonder how a QWERTY keyboard fits in with learning one’s ABC’s in order.”
lol
Are we going overboard here? I mean, I LOVE leapfrog…and I could see some use for this on road trips and what not.. but just a look at my 12 y/o nephew hibernating in front of his nintendo ds and I worry about my kids. I know they all get into this stuff… I just hope my children don’t become addicted to it and realize what it means to spend an entire day out riding bikes and running the neighborhood.
I hate to tell them but kids never want a toy they always want the real phone and nothing but the real phone. So it might last for 5 minutes but you will still have the same problem as before. lol
